From IMDB: A detective investigating the death of a heroin-addicted prostitute uncovers evidence pointing to the existence of a murderous devil cult.

This MPEG2 was ripped from Mill Creek's Gore and More 10 Movie box set, this version is sort of widescreen (letterboxed) but it was apparently cropped on both sides to make it a more matted widescreen (why?) I just wanted to let you know that I didn't do this, it was probably whoever was in charge of releasing this film on home media originally. The AVI provided has the black spaced cropped off and it is deinterlaced.

Subject: The Pyx - gritty but entertaining
The Pyx is an overlooked, but nevertheless quite interesting thriller with horror elements filmed in 1970s Montreal. The main actors'performances are great and the supporting roles are well cast too. Director Harvey Hart made the decision to build his movie on mood (bleak and desperate) and on character development; the result is excellent. Highly recommended.

Subject: Poor Script
After reading the great reviews I downloaded it. But to my disappointment this movie is boring to the core. The only thing you can find amusing is looking at the people, cars and other things of 1970s.

Subject: It's a fine movie
Yes, there are some flaws in the film, and the print is horrible (and the cropping is a crime), but I enjoy this film a great deal. It's a fine movie, and Karen Black is a national treasure.

You kind of know what happened from the moment you see the first scene (or hear the alternate title, "The Hooker Cult Murders"), but I think people would be happy with the mood of this. It's the 70s, and the Exorcist and other early 70s horror films are just coming out. Watch and enjoy.

Subject: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
whoever uploaded this, i am having your babies. i have been looking for this film for years. I could only find it on VHS and of course like millions of others i no longer have a VCR. This is an INCREDIBLY atmospheric film and Karen Black's music in the film is particularly haunting. God, this has made my day!!!!!

Subject: Great flik
Wow, a really great movie, well acted, two timelines running in parallel and complex characters.

In regards as to why the sides are cut off in the wide screen format, widescreen TV's have an aspect ratio of 16x9, cinematic movies generally have an aspect of about 22x9 or 2.33x1. My numbers are probably a bit off, I'm going off memory. The only way to keep the whole frame is to have black bars on the top and bottom, but as the uploader stated, that's just how it came on the dvd. Thanks for the upload.
